New York is so good we went back twice and considered going this year I love the place it truly is a city that never sleeps.
Walk from Times Square through to Central Park, you can ice skate in the winter or continue on walking to visit the American Museum of Natural History they have one of the greatest dinosaur fossil collections in the world. The assistants in this area are willing to explain and show you pieces when they knew we flew in from France they showed us fossils from France. It’s a full day and worth it if your into museums and can only do one, do the AMNH.
Wake up early and head to the Good Morning America live show on times square write a sign and get seen on live television see a celebrity or 2 and they offer free breakfast.
Go to a Broadway show, you can buy tickets on Times Square they’re discounted for that days shows and are usually available for sale after 5pm. In New York we’ve seen Jersey Boys, Motown, Cinderella at the time Fran Drescher from the 90s sitcom The Nanny was the step mother her laugh was just as annoying as I remembered and I loved it!
You can book events online with Stubhub we went to NBA games in Brooklyn and at Madison Square Garden. Eat pizza slices the size of your face and feel guilty later!
Shop in SOHO my favorite shop is Opening Ceremony a curated store that stocks brands that are iconic, emerging and their own pieces they have an online store and ship internationally, don’t forget the tax is not included in the price you see on the sales ticket (confusing I know), unless it says so it’s entered when scanned at the cash register.
You can buy comedy tickets on the street mainly around times square every hundred meters or so someone is trying to sell you something if you reach out and hold a cd that’s being offered be prepared to be hustled to pay for it (lesson learnt!).
Take a boat ride on the Hudson river looking back at manhattan heading towards lady liberty.
Oh and expect to tip! The lobby the wait service the concierge the coffee shop having change will save the ‘ugly stares’ by expectant receivers of tips. I love it there you’re only limited in what you can do by how much time you have.
Happy travel planning
